Sorry it's been so long since a post. Its graduation time, very busy thanks for the patience.
One of the most common things I hear on the contrary to religion is the inquiry that if there is a God, why would he let so many bad things go wrong in his world that he has complete control over? This is a remarkably good statement that i think everyone should ponder regardless of their religious affiliation. In this post I don't want to have a discussion, I want to start one. I want feedback on items you agree with me on, or don't.
First off we should change the way we look at hardships. I think we tend to double the intensity of every bad feeling by fueling it with negative thoughts. We set on the situation. We allow it to boil and take root. In fact it should be the complete opposite. We should immediately be looking for a way to make ourselves happy again. To be sad means that at one point you knew what happiness was, seek it.
We are told several times in the bible that we should look at hard ships as opportunities. Opportunities to be strengthened, to be shaped, and enlightened. God wants our best all the time, not just the good times. When we put him first, and lift up his name while we are in a valley he will take pride in that and you will be rewarded better than if you were following God at your peak. The hardest times to get close to God, is when we need him most.
On to the point, If God had all good all the time, everyone would believe. God wants children who love in the face of adversity, he wants people to choose for themselves. Its just like a sport, if it were easy everyone would do it.
I feel like there is more I need to say but I also feel like i should wrap this up. I guess in conclusion I want to say that there is a reason we are given freewill. God will never give us a temptation we can't overcome. If your wondering why you are in a tribulation, maybe he is training you to minister to someone that will go through the same thing you are. If you are being put down for your faith be glad that you carry that label enough to be persecuted for it...

The beginning
I recently began a journey. After talking with an old friend, I am now on a mission. This friend is one i have known for quite sometime. She is Catholic. She is like many Catholics, in that she feels as if her faith has transformed into a ritual, rather than a personal relationship with God. She is looking for something more to it all. A close relative of hers recently found Christianity. She is amazed at the happiness that relative now has. She is pursuing this happiness. She has also observed the immense amount of change in myself, and also wants the common happiness.
In her Catholic faith she was never encouraged to read the bible. This is a common place within Catholicism. There are a lot of Catholic traditions, and practices which have little to no biblical backing. By biblical backing I mean they are not mentioned anywhere in between the covers of the worlds number one best seller. Purgatory, confessions, and being baptised at birth are just a few examples of this. The argument can be made that they could be mentioned in the old testament. In Hebrews we are told on 3 occasions that because Jesus came, died, and arose we no longer need to observe the old testament.
If we observed the old testament we would be walking around in robes with a sheep following us. Some old testament rules include: not being able to wear clothes of mixed fibers, not cutting your hair, or even something as crazy building a prayer hut the first week of every month. If we observed the old testament and sinned by not following one of these rules we then must offer a burnt offering. This means sacrificing an animal. As you can see when Jesus came and died it made our lives ALOT easier.
Back to my journey I encouraged my friend to partake in a quest. A quest for Christ. i told her i wanted her to read the New Testament. I wanted her to learn about Jesus and how EASY it is to find him. So we are going to read a chapter or two of Luke and have a bible study every night. In this journey I'm going to teach her what i know, and hopefully learn just as much about my faith.
If anyone is curious enough about what changed me, or simply want to talk, or maybe even join us in our reading I strongly encourage you to email me at keirshcochran@gmail.com. I really want to hear from you. Some initial problems you may have is the simple one of not being able to understand the bible you have. I suggest that you find a translation that is good for you. If you go to biblegateway.com it has just about every translation that is out there. I suggest and I read out of the New International Version, the New Living Translation is just as good, both are very understandable. The next problem she had was a complete loss in how to pray. I gave her this suggestion, break your prayers down to 4 simple steps:
1. STEP 1: PRAISE!! It says in revelation that God created a creature in heaven that says "Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty, Who was, and is, and is to come." If God created a creature that says that all day everyday, don't you think he like to hear you praise him, tell him who he is. This is also a great way to just get in the mood of prayer.
STEP 2: REPENT!! Ask God to forgive you of your sins. Ask him to completely erase everything you have done wrong. This will make the next two steps effective.
STEP 3: THANK!!!! Think about all the things you HAVE...not want, HAVE. Thank him for it. You come into this world with nothing, you leave this world with nothing, so in theory any thing you have is profit. Even if you have nothing more to your name than a pair of socks. That's one more pair of socks that you came into this world with.
STEP4: ASK!! This is the best part. You can ask him for anything. If you are sincere, and its in God's will you will receive it. It can be anything from strength, to compassion, from knowledge, to a job.
Thanks for reading,
Keirsh.

A NEW DAY
Lets face the facts keirsh: the only reason that you ever converted to Christianity is because some one either scared the **** out of you into believing that there is a god and you became so scared of the prospect that you are going to go to hell that you decided to rank up with your bible or that you were full of **** from the beginning and you only said that you were an atheist to be cool, but once you realized what claiming that there is no god to Christians meant, you decided to take up on the good lord. but what strikes me as interesting is how someone can go from being completely atheist to a person who carries around a bible in his back pocket at school. and now that you have taken up religion you have turned to a conservative view on matters and somehow it makes you feel special to make fun of people who actually stick by their views even though they are different from yours at this given moment. its weird how during the election you went from being a god hating liberal to a god fearing republican. does that not seem like ******** to you? were all of your values just ******** and you just said what you thought was cool? i think thats how it is, but now on your quest to separate yourself you have turned yourself into this bible banging ********* that no body in their right mind has a single ounce of respect for. no body takes you seriously anymore. its like everything you ever stood for was ********, i mean aren't your values what your suppose to hold dearest to you and be unchangeable regardless of the current situation, but your values seem to change on the notice of a whim. your the kid that nobody can stand. no body wants to listen to your conservative close minded ******** or your beliefs. so why don't you shut down this blog or don't talk about things that you really have no idea about, cause like always your full of ******** and run your mouth about things that your close minded mind can not grasp. stop trying to be what you think everybody wants you to be. i would at least still have some respect for you then.
This post to my entry about religion, along with a message i recieved at a sermon i heard tonight challenged me to change the entire reasoning behind this blog. I want to reach people who would write something like that.
The only point im going to make about it is how can you call someone who admits the way they were living, the things they were saying, how they treated others around them was wrong closeminded. How is that possible. I believe that a greater power, created this earth and everything in it. i believe he sent his son. I believe that son died. I believe that he rose from the dead. An atheist person believes that there is nothing more to what you see around you. Who is the close-minded person here.
From now on this blog will be about religion. I am not doing this to make anyone mad. I want people to talk to me, ask me about my faith. I want people to question me. I will be quick to answer you. I will be even quicker to admit when I dont know something, but will DO MY BEST to find an answer for you.
All God ever asks from us is to DO OUR BEST. To strive to be like Jesus. He doesn't expect perfection. He just wants you to do the best you possibly can with the situation at hand.
I dont know who wrote the above post, but I am sincere when I say thank you, and I want you to email me or let me know in school who you are.

March Madness As I see It
Recently I have been writing for XL950.com. I have written two articles of what was supposed to be a six week MLB Preview. You can check out the articles at XL950.com scroll down to the intern lounge both of the articles are there. With that said I would like to get to today's topic. As the tournament is winding down I cant help but ask where did the excitement go?
This years tournament had all the hype of past years, with everyone printing off brackets, throwing in five bucks for an office pool, studying up on the latest bracketology, which in my mind is nothing more than some over-payed writers (which is my dream) making some random predictions loosely based on some statistical averages of the regular seasons. I think most of these stats are void anyway considering the vast amount of difference in the toughness of schedules the teams in comparison have.
The excitement quickly cooled off in the second weekend, when it set in the the probability of a Cinderella was astronomical. The argument could be made that Cleveland State could have filled that void, but in my mind a true Cinderella must show she can even make it to midnight my reaching the sweet sixteen, the Vikings couldn't do that.
It was all chaulk from there. The teams that were supposed to win won. I don't see number one seeds losing as a huge upset. As you can tell i am very disappointed in this years tournament. I think the greatest thing to come from it is some closure to Tyler Hansbrough's college career. Athough he did win in one of the most boring championship games in sports history. I can count on one hand the number of times I have turned off any important game early, let alone a National Championship. I even watched all of game 7 of the 2004 ALCS...and i'm a Yankees fan.
With that said March has come and gone and it seems we are ushering in the summer with a empty feeling. Like we missed out on a big part of the year. Hopefully Baseball will fill that void...

TEACHERS...as I see it
Today it’s weird, I have been more excited today than ever to write in this thing, but with that is pressure. With the rapid increase in readers…or so I think…there is the ever present possibility of failure which frightens me. I have no idea what I am going to write about as I set here. For the first time I have no idea where this is going to end up, if there is ever a time when you should stop reading in the first paragraph, its now.
Let me vent first of all on something that happened today. This might be where my advertisement of “school safe” ends for the blog. I had a sub today in one of my classes. The sub in my mind is there only for the 60 dollars a day. I have had her before in the same class and last time she let us leave for lunch early. A certain teacher who very few students have respect for…(we shall call him “M” for the sake of me getting in trouble and never being able to share my thoughts with you fine people again) decided he wanted to take matters into his own hands and told our teacher about us leaving 3 minutes early when she came back thus getting us a “your seniors you should know better” speech. This speech echoed in our minds for about 3 seconds at the time, that of course was until today when Miss 60 dollars is back and the same scenario is played out. This time she claims that we HAVE to go because she is locking the door and turning out the lights whether we are out or not. We happily but reluctantly go to lunch only to be greeted my big bad M again. He puts on his authority pants and rides his power trip stating that we are in “big trouble this time.” I politely laugh at his immaturity, but am completely thrown off guard when he uses the argument that we should have stayed in the room and got locked in because it was the “right thing to do.” I guess insubordination is no longer grounds for getting written up. I am still astounded at the illogicalness of his argument and am forever surprised at the power trip and arrogance displayed by SOME of the teachers at our school. I find it utterly hilarious that some teachers are so out of control of their lives that at the smallest opportunities to have authority they choose to exploit it often beyond the grounds of their job description. Let me say something to teachers….IT IS NOT A STUDENTS GOAL TO TICK YOU OFF AND RUIN YOUR DAY, IF YOU DON’T LIKE KIDS FIND A NEW JOB, YOU’RE A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER…ENOUGH SAID.
Let me say one thing before I close: The teachers that get most of our respect get it because they give us respect. They remember how much it sucks to be a teenager. They realise whats important in high school life. They realise their class isn't the only one we have. They have come to the conclusion that you cant reinvent the wheel and change the world, we are the way we are and nothing is going to change that by now. I'm not saying that they don't care or their class is the easiest, but they treat us a equal human being, realising why we are both there, and focus on developing some sort of personal relationship with the student, attempting to be a friend, not just a superior.
I’m already curious as to how that paragraphs ripple effects will rock the boat of my life. I’m sorry today’s entry was rather short. I will do my best to come back tomorrow with a little more meaningful entry. I thank all of you once again, and choose to close by challenging you to point out a teacher’s flaw to them just once over the next couple weeks……They point out yours every day.

RELIGION...As I see it.
So I had a few more readers than the day before. Thank you so much for the feedback, positive or negative. What amazes me is the fact that some people act like they are above reading a blog and act like I am less of a person because I have opinions beyond the reaches of their intelligence. O well as long as there is at least one person reading every day I will keep writing.
So yesterday I wrote about sports and it was brought to my attention that I didn’t talk about one of my biggest topics of discussion over the last few weeks…BALL STATE. Besides it being a possible college choice of mine, the football team is abnormally talented this year….let me put this to rest once and for all…THEY HAVE NOT PLAYED A GOOD TEAM. Every team they have played has had some sort of direction or adjective in front of the state name. MARK MY WORDS: They will face a ranked team in a bowl, and get killed, by more than 2 touchdowns.
Ok so today I am writing about something that I think everyone has a view on it male or female, contrary from yesterday’s entry. Today I am going to talk about the other thing you are not to talk about at the dinner table: RELIGION.
First off let me give you a bit of a background about myself. I used to be an atheist. This are the questions that used to perplex my mind enough to doubt religion so much that I made a person cry, while ripping into them about religion. My biggest question was what is the difference? Let me explain, there are countless religions in the world and even more denominations of those religions. Which on is true, which one is more factual? All of them have members that are “100%” certain that their religion is the right one. What makes yours any different? It was like a cave that branches off in to a thousand different tunnels at different point and only one of them has a pot of gold at the end you have to find the right one, even though all of the tunnels have signs leading you to the goal, only one set of signs is the right path. To me the chance of one of these modern day religions being true was astronomical. I thought than religion was based on a series of myths that have been misconstrued over that past 2000 years. I also thought of the fact that religion itself is completely illogical. Most people who are religious call themselves logical human beings, they would say they make logical decisions, but how can you make the argument that going to a big building with a bunch of other people and drink what they think is the blood of a dead man, not just a dead man but a man who died 2000 years ago….
Ok so I don’t think it’s a secret but I am a bit ashamed of how I used to act. I don’t believe in any of those thoughts anymore. I have a made a complete 180. I now think that religion is inevitable, society must have religion or society itself will fail. Although most wars in the world is a result of, not political difference but religious difference. This is something that scares me. How can someone be so passionate about something they would die for it. To what extent will people go for religion… (this is rather ironic and I am taking it as a sign from god, but as I was writing this HOPE, by jack Johnson came on)
So my point is I now go to a Pentecostal church and rarely miss a service. I have been into my faith for only about 6 months and will have the new testament of the bible finished by new years and I will have read the bible in its entirety by my one year religion anniversary which is June 17. This is astounding for someone who 6 months ago was “100%” sure that there was no more to life than what we see.
Faith is defined by Webster as: Firm belief in something for which there is no proof….I want you to give this some thought. Isn’t there proof for Christianity, If you go to church are you a Christian only on Sunday, If you don’t go to church what do you do instead, how firm is your belief, If the rapture happened today where would you go, is religion worth it, is not having religion worth it, of all these answers HOW SURE ARE YOU???
Thanks again for reading, If you took the time to read take the time to tell me what you think.

sports...as I see it.
After the deepness and seriousness of yesterdays entry today I feel called to discuss something a little lighter, something that may appeal to someone other than just the three girls that decided to leave a comment or the four people who decided to tell me they took the time to read through it.
Today’s entry is about something that shapes society and the economy more than I think most of us realize. It brings families together, yet sometimes puts a barrier between members. Today I am going to write about sports. Now I hope regardless of the topic, that you at least critique my writing if you don’t have anything to say about the material itself
First off let me ramble about some current events. College football is a joke. People watch so much of it yet in the end there is no real ending. There is no real way of settling deputes that one team is better than another. Instead we are faced with 3 weeks of pointless “bowl” games that have virtually no real meaning. Every year we laugh at the new random bowl those two teams we have never heard of play for a large pretzel or something that merely promotes a large company on a national level. My proposal is that there is a playoff system similar to the NFL where the conference e champions (based on record only not a championship game or rankings) and maybe one or two wild cards are put into a playoff style format. Yes this may make the season longer but it will pay off for the teams in the long run. NCAA should approve all schedules to ensure that everyone has as equal schedule as possible. All this would put an end to this retarded system we have no where Oklahoma is ranked ahead of Texas regardless of the fact that Texas beat OU in the regular season. OU has been rewarded for running up the score on teams, something that is usually frowned upon in American sports.
Next let me move to Major League Baseball. This is a mess all around. First let me say that regardless of my criticism I am a bigger fan of baseball than any other sport. I love going to games in the warm summer sun, and I love watching the Yankees not live up to my expectations every year. On to the actual subject matter, a salary cap in baseball is stupid and pointless. Part of the reason I like baseball is that the team has so many people and the season is so long it forces each organization to search deep within its farm system to find a young prospect that will be tomorrow’s next big star. You may ask yourself when the last time this happened is. to which I answer EVAN LONGORIA. He was AL rookie of the year, he sat more records his rookie season than BABE RUTH. He would have never been given this opportunity unless the Rays had not been running short on money and were forced to take a gamble.
For some reason as I started typing my material faded fast but am going to leave you with a rapid paragraph that I hope will entice discussion, pride, or maybe just plain hatred for me. This part will consist mostly of opinions that have some facts that back them if you choose to email me I will be glad to answer. Here we go: THE RED SOX SUCK, THE YANKEES ARE THE GREATEST SPORTS FRANCHISE IN HISTORY, BUD SELIG IS A GENIUS, THE RAYS WERE THE BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL, NOTHING GOOD EVER CAME FROM BOSTON OR PHILIDELPHIA, THE PATRIOTS ARE OVERRATED AND ARE NOW PROVING MY POINT, FANS IN INDIANA ARE BAND WAGONERS, THE PACERS ARE GOOD, THE COLTS USED TO BE, THE COLTS WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, THEY WILL GET BEAT FIRST ROUND, BARRY BONDS DIDN’T USE STEROIDS JUST LIKE O.J. DIDN’T MURDER, SOUTH CAROLINA SHOULD CHANGE THE NAME OF THEIR MASCOT, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT A HOOSIER IS, TORONTO MISSPELLED IS HOCKEY TEAMS NAME, SPORTS PLAYER GET PAID MORE TO PLAY A GAME THAN THE PRESIDENT DOES TO GET HASSELED ABOUT MONEY, AMERICANS NEED TO WATCH HOCKEY MORE, THE NBA IS NO LONGER COOL, STOP WEARING SPORTS JERSEYS UNLESS YOU ARE BLACK OR AT A GAME, IF YOUR GOING TO WEAR A SPORTS HAT OR JERSEY KNOW A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT THE TEAM.
If you read this whole thing in its entirety I implore you to go outside and get a life, just kidding, thank you for reading please leave your remarks. I promise I will keep a variety of topics coming through to interest everyone. I am open to suggestions on topics; I have an opinion on just about everything.
